Founded in 1882 by Abbott Eales, our firm is one of the most established law firms in Melbourne.

Our current Senior Partner Dick Mackenzie acquired the practice 40 years ago on 31st March 1973 when he finalised the purchase of the Eales & Miller firm from Duncan Eales. The name was then changed to Eales & Mackenzie to reflect the new ownership. Dick has been dedicated to the firm as senior partner ever since, and has played a key role in the growth and success of the firm.

Dean Jones joined the partnership in 2002. Our firms’ successes can be attributed to our harmonious partnership and current lawyers and staff who work together to achieve results for our clients. Without the dedication and enthusiasm of the partners, lawyers and staff we would not have achieved the level of growth that we have since the firm’s inception all those years ago.

Today our constantly evolving practice is vibrant, enthusiastic and dedicated to achieving results in the areas of Commercial Law, Property Law, Commercial Litigation, Wills and Estates, Estate Disputes and Family Law.

Our Lawyers Specialising across a variety of legal areas, our dedicated team are invested in achieving the optimal outcome in your case.

Dean has extensive experience in dispute resolution having assisted and guided clients in relation to a wide range of disputes including shareholders and directors disputes, partnership disputes, intellectual property, finance litigation, employment related disputes and general commercial matters.

He believes that an early assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a case should be undertaken and all further steps should then work towards the best possible outcome for the client, whether that be achieved by a negotiated settlement or by resolution by the Court.

Dean joined Eales & Mackenzie in 1997 after practicing for 10 years with a mid sized firm. He has degrees in both Law and Economics, as well as a Master of Laws in Commercial Law. He is also a qualified mediator and is a member of the Litigation Lawyers Section of the Law Institute of Victoria.

Away from work Dean enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, working on his hobby farm in the Diamond Valley area and watching his beloved Collingwood Football Club.
