Jeanette Swann Associate Accredited Family Law Specialist

Jeanette was admitted to practice in 1993 after completing an Arts/Law degree at the University of Melbourne. She became accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a Family Law Specialist in 2001. Jeanette heads the Family Law section of our practice, together with our other dedicated family lawyer, Nisar Parkar. Jeanette also heads the conveyancing section of our practice, so if you are buying or selling a property, she is the person to talk to.

Jeanette handles divorces, property disputes between separating couples, parenting disputes, child support queries and related Family Law matters. She is experienced and competent in Court appearances, when required. Her approach is to provide assistance tailored to the client’s particular needs and priorities. In some cases, an assertive and firm approach is necessary and in others, the aim may be to negotiate a solution with a minimum of legal expense and unpleasantness.

Jeanette has a background in general practice, which enhances her ability to understand and meet the needs of her clients. Her experience in property law, drafting contracts, civil litigation, Wills and estate administration help to provide our Family Law and Conveyancing clients with a comprehensive service.

Jeanette started her career with a small legal practice in Gippsland in Victoria. She lived and worked in north-west Tasmania for 2½ years, where she was the resident solicitor and branch manager for a prominent legal firm in the region. Since returning from Tasmania in 1997, Jeanette has practiced in Melbourne. She joined Eales & Mackenzie Melbourne in December 2001 and is an associate of the firm.

Jeanette is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Victorian Law Institute and the Law Council of Australia. She regularly attends seminars and conferences in the fields of Family Law and Property Law. We believe that it is important to keep abreast of recent developments in the law, particularly in an area as dynamic as Family Law. Our solicitors maintain a strong interest in our chosen areas of the profession.

Jeanette’s interests outside the law include travel, theatre, keeping fit and sampling all of the gourmet delights that Melbourne has to offer.
